Converts documents created using Microsoft Word like DOC, DOCX or RTF into XML, LaTeX, AMS-LaTeX or TeX files. Additionally, it tweaks the conversion mappings and changes characters, styles or fonts.

Word-to-LaTeX is a powerful and effective utility that lets you convert Word documents (DOC, DOCX, and RTF) to LaTeX files (TeX files) or to clean XML documents.
The best thing about this handy application is the fact that it can be used by beginners and experienced users alike. Beginners will surely appreciate the straightforward interface that saves a lot of time when converting the files, while power users will be able to take advantage of the many advanced settings that this tool keeps under its hood. Every little aspect and element of the conversion can be controlled and customized according to the users’ preferences. Word-to-LaTeX is impressively comprehensive when it comes to additional settings and features. For example, it allows tweaking the conversion mappings, controlling settings regarding the conversion of the images from the input files, managing characters, styles, and fonts, and many other more.

I also like about this tool the fact that it displays a simple and clear log after a conversion has finished, showing how every part of the conversion was accomplished. Configuration presets can be saved and re-used at later times.

To sum it all up, Word-to-LaTeX is a reliable tool that ensures Word documents will be converted to LaTeX files without any problem. I recommend it, but I advise you to be aware of the fact that this tool still has some downsides, such as the big price, the dull-looking interface, or the lack of batch conversion capabilities. Despite all its flaws, I’d say it’s still worth at least a try.
